The Giving Tree Sequence (Podcast 7/30/21)





Mountain Pose-

Stand straight and tall. Lift the bone in the center of your chest up like the peak of a mountain and raise your heart to shine over it like the sun peaking over the mountain. Move your arms to form the sides of the mountain. Be strong like a mountain.


Tree pose-

From mountain pose, lift your right foot to the inside of your left thigh. Lift both arms straight to the sky like branches of a tree.


Child Pose

From tabletop, sit on your heels and take your knees apart. Walk your hands forward till your chest is near the floor and you resemble a child in a mother’s womb.


Garland Pose

From Tadasana bring your hands together in front of your chest. Keep the torso lifted and bend the legs as if coming into chair pose. Continue bending your knees till your seat is next to your heels.


King Dancer pose

Stand in Mountain pose. Lift your left arm so it is parallel to the floor. Take your left foot towards your bottom and grab your ankle with your right hand. As you are working in effort to balance, notice how every part of your body is working on the same goal, to be the Lord of the Dancer pose.


Swaying Tree pose

From mountain pose, lift your right foot to the inside of your left thigh. Lift both arms straight to the sky like branches of a tree. Now sway your arms side to side like branches of a tree.


Resting Hero pose

From tabletop bring your knees together and take your feet wide. Sit between your feet. Now walk your hands back and lower your body and head to the floor. Once there rest and relax like a sleeping hero with your arms straight above your head.


Child pose

From tabletop, sit on your heels and take your knees apart. Walk your hands forward till your chest is near the floor and you resemble a child in a mother’s womb.


Tree pose- pick apples

From mountain pose, lift your right foot to the inside of your left thigh. Lift both arms straight to the sky like branches of a tree. Now take turns reaching your arms up and down picking your apples thinking of what you will buy with them.

-Horse

Stand in mountain pose and jump your feet wide. Bring your hands in front of you and bend your knees till they are over your ankles.

-monkey

Sit on the ground in criss-cross applesauce. Extend one leg forward in front of you, and your other leg behind you. Bend your back leg if your groins are tight. Be a monkey stretching your arms and legs reaching for the next vine to swing towards.

-fish

Sit on the floor with your legs extended in front of you. Place your hands next to your sides and walk yourself down to your elbows. Extend your chin towards the ceiling and place the crown of your head on the floor, lift your chest to the ceiling.

-cat

From table top arch the whole back and bring both the tip of the sacrum towards the ceiling and the top of the forehead to the ceiling


Tree pose

From mountain pose, lift your right foot to the inside of your left thigh. Lift both arms straight to the sky like branches of a tree.


Boat pose

Sit in Staff pose and bend your legs. Lift your feet off the ground and place your arms next to your legs. Now balance like a boat.


Child pose

From tabletop, sit on your heels and take your knees apart. Walk your hands forward till your chest is near the floor and you resemble a child in a mother’s womb.


Rest pose

Lay down on your back. Rest for 2 minutes. You can count to 100 or skip count by 2’s, or even multiply in your head as high as you can. Then turn to your right side and sit up.
